DEEP DEEP WATER SOMETHING IN THE WATER

Surfacing with their official debut single 'Freedom' only 3 months ago, South East London-based quartet Deep Deep Water pay homage to their liquidy namesake on their ripply new offering 'Something in the Water'. Pairing dripping, arpeggiated synthesizers with a glistening ride-based drum beat and repetitive, emphasis-inducing guitar parts, the atmospheric track is anchored by the almost shamanic chant "Ohhh, Something in the water, days are getting shorter, ohhh". Letting up just after the 2 minute mark for a percussive drum break down, oscillating synths take centre stage as a tension-building guitar solo carries 'Something in the Water' to an uplifting climax, before veering off towards an unexpected groove-lead outro. -Holly Mullineaux
